Happy Holidays 2012!

We had our first trace of snow several days ago. This is my view looking north out the window above part of my typing desk. The other window, above my typing platform, faces west looking out over the meadow.

My brass quintet, called the Sierra Brass, performed on 3 Wednesday nights for Victorian Christmas in Nevada City earlier this month.
The view from my western window this morning. Fog obscuring the mountains!
Christmas BUSH: 2012!
My special shiny little Royal "O" portable. She can be temperamental, skipping spaces and running letters together merrily, but she was on "Good Behavior" for this post. With one minor exception.
In spite of my best efforts, I could not get the video to load at the bottom of this post. I'm sure you figured it out and saw it on the top!

  1. A merry, merry Christmas and a fantastic New Year to you too!

What a fantastic idea, that of the Christmas bush... very original, and the results are fantastic!

And I agree, the SG3 is a fantastic typer. I'm sure you'll really enjoy using it if you get your hands on one.

The woods look fantastic covered in snow! Fantastic!

  3. Cam, this seems like the right place to tell you how much I have enjoyed reading your musings. You write really well, and your enthusiasm for typewriters and life comes shining through. It's been a long time since I've laid hands on a typewriter, and even longer since I've owned one, but I do have fond memories of the many hours I spent with them, and I've re-lived that through your blog. And the fact that I know you in a different context makes it all more personal and special. So thanks for sharing. Wishing you and James a Merry Christmas and a wonderful 2013! Hope to see you soon!

  4. The woods and the house look fabulous! This year's bush/tree looks especially festive in red. It looks great and I would never guess that it was spliced together.

We just experienced our first year with a high school kid playing in a small school group and a youth symphony. That is just a hint of what a professional musician's schedule is like! I'm glad your quintet is doing truly enjoyable work.

Merry Christmas from all of us to both of you!

Nevada City Victorian Christmas Fair?! OMG that sounds awesome! Man I need to move somewhere warmer, snow and cold really mess things up.

I love the Christmas Bush and the thrifty ornaments! You two are so clever/crafty/handy.

I hope you and James have a wonderful year ahead filled with all the things and people you love!

  12. A belated Merry Christmas to you & James. I love the Christmas Bush. You live in one of the most wonderful places.

That Model O is wonderful. I thought about finding a red/green ribbon for Christmas, but I got so involved in too much happening at one time I forgot to look to see if there is such a ribbon.

Happy trumpeting and best wishes to you, James and your quintet for 2013 & beyond.

  14. Hello, I just wanted to apologize that it's been so long since my last letter. I have no good reason, I'm afraid, I've just been having a really hard time sitting down to type lately. The good news is I've got a letter mostly done and it should be on it's way to you later this week. Again, so sorry for the long late... especially seeing as I just got another letter from you!
